Do you have a great idea, but don’t know how to bring it to the screen?
This six-hour course, back by popular demand at Cinema Arts Centre, teaches the basics of producing documentaries, with invaluable tips to make film “broadcast-quality”; guidance and instruction from international film festival winner and 3-time Emmy® Award-winner Ron Rudaitis, based in Greenlawn. His films have aired on over 250 stations, including The Puerto Ricans: Our American Story, The Italian Americans PBS series, Meet Mr. Miracle- Gro, and Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island.

September 25, WEEK 1: GETTING STARTED/STAGES OF PRODUCTION (pt. 1)
Featuring video presentations and in-depth discussion, week one will provide an overview of what a television producer does, and the many different skills and personnel that come together to make a successful production, as well as featuring in-depth discussion of all stages of documentary production, including: research & development, focus groups, consultants, script development, interview techniques, music and archival footage selection, location shooting, narration, transcription, editing, and more.
October 2, WEEK 2: STAGES OF PRODUCTION (pt. 2)/FUNDING & DISTRIBUTION
Week three presents a continuation of the stages of production and also provides an in-depth look at the various ways of getting your film to the marketplace, from television to film festivals to the internet. You will also get an insiders look at perhaps the greatest showcase for the independent documentary filmmaker today: Public Television, as well as in-depth discussion on the grant-writing process, and a look at possible funding sources.

On September 1, 2007 "A Bridge Between Silence and Sound," the new Rudaitis Media documentary about hearing loss and the cochlear implant technology begins its national broadcast television run through Public Television Distributor NETA (National Educational Telecommunications Association)

National Distribution for Cochlear Implant Documentary
The new Rudaitis Media documentary A Bridge Between Silence and Sound will be nationally distributed to Public Television stations through NETA. A Bridge Between Silence and Sound is a documentary narrated by Mario Cuomo that focuses on hearing loss and the Cochlear Implant, a cutting-edge, but controversial technology that gives the deaf and hard of hearing the ability to hear sounds.

The Rudaitis Media documentary "Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island" has received a New York Emmy Nomination in the outstanding Documentary category. Winners will be announced at the 50th Annual New York Emmy Awards on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Marriott Marquis, Times Square.

Farming the Future Wins Silver at NY Festivals
On February 2, 2007 the Rudaitis Media documentary "Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island" was awarded a Silver World Medal in the Environment and Ecology category at The New York Festivals, which recognizes "The World's Best Work" in informational, educational, and industrial film productions and corporate video, with entries from over 30 countries around the world.

"Beyond Books" Documentary Premiere
Rudaitis Media has just completed a half-hour documentary entitled Beyond Books: The Middle Country Public Library, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of this progressive institution that serves as a national model for libraries across the country. Beyond Books: The Middle Country Public Library will have its premiere screenings at the Middle Country Public Library in April, 2007 as part of National Library Week.
